What is COR Certification?

A Certificate of Recognition (COR) is awarded to employers who develop health and safety programs that meet established standards set by the Government of Alberta. Achieving and maintaining a valid COR is required for earning a financial incentive through the WCB Partnerships in Injury Reduction programs. This is a program that any employer can take advantage of!

Who needs COR?

A COR can be held by any company for a variety of reasons, but normally it boils down to one of three reasons.

1) The organization is working for a prime contractor, or their client has asked the company to achieve and maintain a COR to continue to bid on or work with them. This should not be viewed as a negative, but rather a positive, it normally means they would like to continue to work with you in the future

2) The employer is large enough the as noted in the Alberta OHS Act (Part 2 (16)) they are required to maintain a health and safety program

3) The organization looks to take advantage of the WCB rebate program in place for current COR holders.

What does an audit cost?

Audit costs can vary greatly, most organizations charge a flat day rate for both auditing and report writing for any audit completed. Costs vary based on the number of interviews required as well as travel to worksites. This is one of our strengths as we ensure your external auditor is fair with the industry!

What is SECOR? Do you offer manuals for SECOR?

The Small Employer Certificate of Recognition (SECOR) is a way for small employers (<10 employees, including owners) to improve their health and safety performance. The SECOR can also be recognized by your client in lieu of COR. We also offer SECOR manuals and help with this certification!
