What is COR Certification?
A Certificate of Recognition (COR) is awarded to employers who develop health and safety programs that meet established standards set by the Government of Alberta. Achieving and maintaining a valid COR is required for earning a financial incentive through the WCB Partnerships in Injury Reduction programs. This is a program that any employer can take advantage of!
Who needs COR?
A COR can be held by any company for a variety of reasons, but normally it boils down to one of three reasons.
1) The organization is working for a prime contractor, or their client has asked the company to achieve and maintain a COR to continue to bid on or work with them. This should not be viewed as a negative, but rather a positive, it normally means they would like to continue to work with you in the future
2) The employer is large enough the as noted in the Alberta OHS Act (Part 2 (16)) they are required to maintain a health and safety program
3) The organization looks to take advantage of the WCB rebate program in place for current COR holders.
